My name is Gábor Köller, I live in Tata and it has been almost 10 years since I first picked up a camera.
The purpose was simple, as usual, I wanted to capture the world around me. I soon realised that nature photography was really close to my heart, especially macro photography, which means photographing tiny creatures.
It's not an easy task from a technical point of view, so I had to learn a lot, and that's how I got to know the visual requirements of the world of photography. My aim was to make my pictures interesting, not only in terms of content, but also aesthetically attractive, or at least pleasing. I don't consider myself an artist, at least I haven't studied in that direction, my pictures are rather the result of my instinctive composition.
I came across the work of a great Danish nature photographer, Björn Persson, relatively early. He photographs mainly African wildlife in black and white. His clean photographs and simple compositions have had, and still have, a great influence on me. I strive for the same simplicity in my work, trying to present a transparent, clear, yet informative image to the observer.
If I had to summarise it briefly, I would say that I would like to show you something that you walk past every day, but don't notice.
I don't just mean small things, but everything that surrounds us. That's why I called my first photo album "Eyes wide open", which I managed on social media. I gained quite a few followers who have been commenting on my work ever since, which gives me great pride and motivation in times of creative crisis.
I hope this will not change in the future! I will certainly continue to walk around with "my eyes wide open" and camera in hand, because our world is full of wonders, big and small, that are worth showing to others.
